Science Department

All students take science throughout their time at Rowhill.  We have a purpose built full equipped science laboratory and offer both GCSE and Entry Level Certificate in this core subject.

At KS3, we have developed a course using an interactive, active teach scheme of work following National Curriculum guidelines.  Twelve distinct topics are covered each year.  Topics are covered from biology, chemistry and physics with an emphasis on a practical, investigative approach to develop skills, knowledge and understanding.

At KS4, all students currently take the AQA specification A Science GCSE course leading to a single award at grades A* to G.  This involves modules of work from all three areas of science with examinations taken at the end of the two year course together with controlled assessments.  All pupils complete an Entry Level Science qualification starting in Year 9.

Our science department has gone from strength to strength over the last year with pupils making good progress in all areas.  We continue to strive to enter more pupils for GCSE and this will increase year on year.
