Vocational options
In September pupils currently in Year 9 will be transferring from the Transition Hub to the Vocational Hub.
In the Vocational Hub pupils have the opportunity to choose a variety of different subjects. Currently, Rowhill offers a wide variety of off-site and on-site vocational and practical courses, the details are contained in the Options Booklet. It is compulsory for pupils in Key Stage 4 to follow the core subjects, English, Mathematics and Science, as well as ICT and PHSCE. Pupils also participate in core PE lessons, enabling them to participate in frequent physical activity.
The Option subjects are:
IMI (Motor Mechanics)
Bicycle Maintenance
Food Technology
Art and Design
Hair and Beauty
Performing Arts
PE/BTEC Sport
Archway Motorcycle Mechanics
Angling and the Environment
BTEC Construction
First Aid
Land Based Studies / Animal Care
Pupils will be given guidance and advice regarding the selection of options by form teachers and subject teachers. During Term 5 pupils will participate in Taster Sessions, where pupils experience taster lessons in subjects that particularly interest them. Pupils will then be in a stronger position to select the subjects that best suit them. Pupils choose six options, in order of preference.
The Options Booklet is available on the school website, along with a guide.
Please read the course descriptions contained in the Options Booklet and if you require further information or advice, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
