The Dog Mentor
Rowhill school is pleased to have four very special (and very furry) members of the therapeutic team, our Dog Mentors Hefay, Peaches, and Bertie.
We recognise that a child’s relationship to an animal can play an important role in their life, and evidence suggests that children with companion animals have higher self-esteem, greater empathy, and more positive engagement with their peers. These improvements can in turn help them educationally, developmentally, emotionally and socially. Our Dog Mentors work with pupils at Rowhill in a range of ways, alongside the support of our trained staff handlers.
